Electromechanical Shutter Assembly

SUNCOAST TECHNOLOGIES Model STA-3322 Electromechanical Shutter is designed for use as an intracavity "fail-safe" shutter for solid state laser systems and associated applications.

 The Model STA-3322 uses a high reliability rotary solenoid to position an anodized aluminum paddle in and out of the optical path. The Model STA-3322 contains a fail-safe feature utilizing a mercury switch attached to the shutter paddle used to sense mechanical position. The contacts of this switch may be connected to user supplied interlock circuitry which defeats operation of the laser in the event of a shutter failure. Loss of power to the shutter results in gravity actuated shutter closure. Life expectancy of the solenoid is 10 million cycles.

 An amber "emission indicator" lamp is mounted atop the shutter housing providing visible conditions of the shutter assembly at all times. Operation of the lamp is independent of the shutter. The Model STA-3322 includes a 5-pin mating connector. The Model STA-3322 is not recommended for use outside the laser resonator.
